Oct. 24, 2022, Emerson, Neb.—Emerson’s recently opened Post 60 Market, 109 Main Street, will hold its Grand Opening from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 29.  They invite the public to drop in for taste testing, sign up for door prizes, and check out their amazing product selection.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at noon.  Pulled pork sandwiches will be served at 11 a.m. until gone.

Future plans for the former Ryan McEntaffer Legion Post 60 building, 109 Main Street, include installing a walk-in cooler, expanding the meat/deli selection and constructing an office for Legion Post 60 members.

The first stockholder informational meeting was held Sept. 26, 2021.  Volunteers began interior demolition on Oct. 29, 2021.  The Market opened on Aug. 30, 2022.

According to Charlotte Narjes, a Rural Prosperity Nebraska Extension educator Agricultural Economics and associate director of the Nebraska Cooperative Development Center, “Post 60 Market is an excellent example of a community working together to meet a critical need in a community. A grocery store can allow elderly to stay in the community and attract new community members. Congratulations to the Emerson Board and Community. I am glad I was able to be part of your cooperative journey and wish you success in the future.”

With the assistance of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln's Cooperative Development Center, strong stockholder sales, community volunteers, diligent local contractors, and numerous others, Post 60 Market is the newest amenity on Emerson’s Main Street.
